Get out your boots, dust off those hats ... it's time for the Fair & Rodeo!

I absolutely love the county fair. Brings back many memories of my Mom as she'd prepare for the fair. She would bake at least two of everything so she could personally judge what she should enter. And, she had me do the same thing. She'd enter canned goods, baked goods, sewing, and things from her garden. It is at times like this that I not only miss her but I miss her words of wisdom, her gentle 'self', and her way of quietly listening. She was the ultimate Grandma. My kids called her "Honey" ... Missy named her that and it stuck. We loved our Honey.

So in memory of Honey and knowing she'd want me to, I entered four things this year: Apricot Jam, Raspberry Jam, Zucchini Relish and Jalapeno Pepper Jelly. Tomorrow morning I'll help at the Senior Pancake Breakfast ... I'm the batter stirrer. This will be my third year and I love it. The rodeo will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We enjoy walking around the fair, looking at the exhibits, visiting with friends, and commenting on how the kids are growing up. Saturday night after the rodeo a friend "Crabby" has his annual chili party at his camp trailer. It is sooooo much fun. We sit around, BS, eat chili, share harvest stories, partake in some adult beverages, BS, catch up on life and BS.

And since I am a wanna-be-rodeo Queen, well I hope to be at all rodeo sessions. My tiara & belt buckle will be shined up and I'll be ready to ride (well in my mind at least). I love the rodeo. It is just so exciting, energizing and a great time.

Grandma & Daughter Updates: I've been busy sewing & scraping. Will post some sewing projects after the baby shower, just in the case the girls are reading this. So Missy is now 33 weeks pregnant. So hard to believe. She is having a wonderful pregnancy and looks incredible. Christina is 23 weeks and still taking it easy. She & her husband will be moving into Cape May base housing the first week of October. What a wonderful place to live. I checked it out on the internet. Like Nina said ... if it has been featured in Country Living then you know it is a great place. Spoken like my daughter ... we have our priorities!

I'm flying out two weeks from today. I'm so excited. Nina and I will be driving down to Missy's for the baby showers ... one on Saturday & the next one on Sunday. Nina and I will be taking the scenic route going through Cape May, taking the ferry to Lewes and then onto Stafford. It'll be our last road trip as Mom & Daughter, the next one I'm sure we'll have a car seat or two!

Happy Wednesday everyone!
