Just love my cowboy.....

I was playing around with settings this other day while admiring the 'scenery'. My guy was out riding through some of the cattle looking for 'sick' ones. I need to practice using a 'steadier' arm and find a setting that lets me get some action shots. Any suggestions?

Pictures are a combination of light, shutter speed and aperture. There can be more to it if you are using film. Automated settings can bring some very nice images and are simple to use. Low light levels usually affect shutter speed (slows it down). Slow shutter = blurry photo's... especially when using the Zoom feature. Get a book, take a class or experiment is best way to learn. For these pics I suggest getting closer as the light looks pretty weak. A tripod might help. Love the pics!

I have no idea how to explain, but your pics are great! It's been perfect weather to go out and just ride!

Hiya Suzy, my little farmin' buddy! We are in the middle of harvest, but my cowboy doesn't sit a horse....he likes the tractors!!

Love the photos. I believe Doug has the answers for you...it's all about timing and light. Sometimes it just doesn't work out. I have taken over 300 photos of my little boy playing football and just this week I finally got the "one"....after 7 games and multiple settings. Just keep on trying.
