ering  I write this post, I'm over 3,000 miles away from my kitchen at my daughter's in North Carolina.  My kitchen is in Eastern Washington.  Before I left for this trip, I had the chore of all chores ... to ready my kitchen for a complete renovation.  I thought, being the list maker and not the most organized person, that if I crossed off one drawer and/or cabinet an evening, I'd be good to go.

Well Harvest is here ... maybe!  The anticipation and anxiety is at an all time high.  Combines are polished, the wheels on the trucks are shining, the wheat is just a teensy bit a way from being ready.  The freezers are packed with harvest goodies, the lunch coolers are washed, bleached and ready to be filled.  Costco runs are done.  Now we are just waiting ... and waiting.  In the meantime

As a child I was so lucky ... every summer I was able to attend Girl Scout camp starting at 9 years old and annually went up until the week I went into the Navy after my senior year of high school.  My first experience was Camp Tama (Japan).  It sucked though because I had all this really cool & brand new camping (all Girl Scout, of course) and I'll never forget this --- my first CASE pocket

So let me tell you what I've found .... the perfect paper for a fella that has some great tattoos (and, no .. For the past few weeks I see 12x12 layouts everywhere I look.  The Palouse is coloring up -- the wheat fields are greener, the alfalfa is getting taller, the fields that have been sprayed are getting browner (if they were meant to be brown) and varigated shades of red are here and there.  When I see the fields, hills and sky  --- I imagine a 12x12 layout, wondering how those colors will flow;

Today is a day of celebration!!! My baby boy has turned 21 years of age today. For a guy that was born premature and was a wee-one -- he has grown into his name "Big Jake" -- over 6" tall! I had so much fun doing this layout of my grandson, GL.  This was his first visit to the North Carolina Aquariaum.  And let me add that this Grandma DESPISES snakes -- won't even look at them in the zoo, so this was quite a feat for me to put a picture of a snake on this layout.  GL should be proud of his Gma for doing that.  The October Afternoon paper was fun to work with.  What looks like alot

Here at the ranch we don't go by the typical four seasons.  We have more than four ... I think we have a new tradition on Union Flat ... the Union Flat Farm Fest!  What started as a small party for the neighborhood kids to celebrate fall, pick pumpkins from our patch & have some good old-fashioned fun got bigger!  The kids enjoyed the straw maze that Dick & AC put together (they like running through it & on it!)  They bobbed for apples, had feedsack races and ran through the maze

Last evening I was thinking back to a year ago when I was waiting for 'that' phone call. My eyes got a little misty as I remembered the joy & love I felt knowing that my first was having her first. This Thursday marks the first day of our fair. What a wonderful time of the year for so many families. Harvest is over. School is in full swing. The camp trailers are moving into the fair grounds. I don't know how my Mom stood it. So many emotions & thoughts about our new grandbaby ... don't know where to start. How about this - Mason Nicholas was born on November 16 to my daughter, Christina & her husband, Jayson. Mason was 6 weeks early. What a little angel he is. He will be in NICU for abit until he is strong enough to go home. When I left yesterday, his oxygen level was 100% on room air.
