A new fellow is rocking my world!

Welcome to the world Gavin Liam!!!! This morning, October 12, @ 2:24 a.m., Missy delivered Gavin Liam. He weighed in at 8 lbs, 3 oz and from the tip of his long toes to the top of that beautiful head he is 18-1/2". It was a long day for Missy and I am sure that when she looks back on this day, as I'm sure she already is, she will know that the love she brought into this world is soooooooooooo worth it.

I continue to look at his pictures over and over, mesmerized by his cheeks and overall innocence. And of course I am telling myself that my grandson is just the cutest little guy ever. Well, Jake was first but I know Big Jake will understand me calling Gavin Liam the cutest little thing. I sure cannot wait to hold him, love on him, smell the 'babyness' of him and to kiss, kiss, kiss him! Waiting a few months sucks, but he will be so worth it.

Last evening while waiting for 'that' phone call I attempted to organize my scrap room, have a glass (or two) of wine and listen to the songs I would listen to when I was pregnant with Missy. Soft rock ... Lynard Skynard (Tuesday's Gone), Jackson Brown, Bruce Hornsby, Boz Scaggs and more. Oh yes there were tears, especially with "Sweet Melissa" by the Allman Brothers ... many speical memories with that one. Being a long distance Grandma sucks (for lack of a better term) yet at the same time the world we have to offer our grandkids is a good one. My Mom or Honey as my children affectionately called her was a role model to me on grandparenting from afar.

Today I've learned a few things ... and this I know for sure:
Our children do grow up and become parents
We will continue to always look at our grandkids photos (and them) and be in awe that the child we gave birth to did the same thing ... and presented us with this angel of a grandchild
Life continues regardless of pit stops, holes or 'stuff' we step in and forks in the road

This I know for sure ............ it is all good.

Still waiting ... & Friday Fav Five

So I'm still waiting. I will not complain as I'm not the one who is delivering the child! I can't begin to imagine what my Grandson will look like. He will be absolutely wonderful, delightful and a complete angel! Ummm, guess I'm sounding like a Grandma.

Friday Fav Five .....

1. I'm getting a hot stone pedicure this afternoon. I'm going to be a pampered Rodeo Queen.
2. Found a gal @ Etsy who will help me do a banner for my blog ... and it is looking fun!
3. Fall is here and I'm loving it ... wore my fall clothes this week.
4. Had lunch with my guy today.
5. Enjoying my time reading "Eat, Pray, and Love".

I plan to do some scrapbooking this weekend and start on Christmas sewing/crafting.

Happy Friday!

Patiently waiting .....

for my first Grandson to be born. His pumpkin is ripe ... so what is holding him up? I'm so excited to be a Grandma. After yoga class last week there was a belly dance class following. I thought "what the heck .... I'm going to be a Grandma, so why not try belly dancing?". And ... I did! I sure had fun and I got the hip bump down pat! Life is too short to not have fun, laugh and make memories.

This afternoon I decorated our home for fall. Note the "G" on the pumpkin ... that is for Gavin Liam, my first soon-to-be Grandson. Mason's pumpkin isn't ready yet ... and besides, Mason is not due to be born until after Christmas.

I forgot to post my Fav Five on Friday ... so I will a few days late. In no particular order,
1. Made a homemade apple pie this week, and it is gone already! I had some help :-)
2. Had a day off!!!!!
3. Watched "Private Practice"
4. Put fresh sheets on the bed
5. Have been enjoying a hot cup of herbal tea each evening.

The newest additions to our family

No ... not grandsons, yet. Puppies! Mattie had her second litter on September 11th. She had all boys. We were able to watch her give birth to the first one and it was amazing. She & the pups are still in my guy's office. They are beginning to travel, so they'll soon be outside in the big box that is cushy.

Baby Showers & a Road Trip

Woo-hoo!!! Thelma & Louise are probably pretty envious of Nina & my road trip. Well, so we weren't that wild, but had a great time. Nina teasingly suggested that I get a red convertible mustang (she saw another road trip on "Reba" -- her favorite show). When I was picking up the rental car @ Philly and they directed me to the blue avenger ... well I knew our road trip was just beginning!

We left her home in NJ and headed to Cape May. From Cape May we took a ferry to Lewes, Delaware. What a wonderful ferry ride and the weather was perfect. It was then on to Stafford, VA. The drive was great, our pit stops were fewer then I had expected (read ... a pregnant woman was my passenger). At one point she had me laughing so hard I was going to have to pull over as I was crying. If you haven't been on a road trip with your grown daughter ... don't wait! Our next road trip will include a baby in a car seat!

On Saturday we went to Missy's baby shower which was hosted by the gals where she works. Played silly shower games, which I love! Oh, and I even won a prize. :-) On Sunday we went to Nina's baby shower hosted by Sabrina. More silly shower games and lots of fun with friends. I enjoyed meeting the girls friends. Another highlight of the weekend ... Jake invited us to his apartment!! This was a first for the three of us. We were at Target when he called, so we brought him a housewarming gift ... something that all guys should have (no ... not maid & a month worth of meals in the freezer) ... Halloween dish towels & Halloween candy.

I was sad to leave Missy on Sunday. Knowing that the next time I see her she'll be a Mom ... wow, lots of thoughts and also memories flood of when she was a baby herself. We headed back to NJ. Got lost a few times, but hey the back roads were beautiful.

On Monday Nina and I washed and folded baby clothes ... fun! I flew home on Monday evening. It is always good to come home to my own bed, my guy & my life.

Blue Ribbons

It's been awhile since I've updated so I'd better get busy. I wanted to share my blue ribbons with you. The jars are full of raspberry jam, jalapeno pepper jelly, apricot jam, and zuchinni relish.
