Welcome to the world Gavin Liam!!!! This morning, October 12, @ 2:24 a.m., Missy delivered Gavin Liam. He weighed in at 8 lbs, 3 oz and from the tip of his long toes to the top of that beautiful head he is 18-1/2". It was a long day for Missy and I am sure that when she looks back on this day, as I'm sure she already is, she will know that the love she brought into this world is soooooooooooo worth it.
I continue to look at his pictures over and over, mesmerized by his cheeks and overall innocence. And of course I am telling myself that my grandson is just the cutest little guy ever. Well, Jake was first but I know Big Jake will understand me calling Gavin Liam the cutest little thing. I sure cannot wait to hold him, love on him, smell the 'babyness' of him and to kiss, kiss, kiss him! Waiting a few months sucks, but he will be so worth it.
Last evening while waiting for 'that' phone call I attempted to organize my scrap room, have a glass (or two) of wine and listen to the songs I would listen to when I was pregnant with Missy. Soft rock ... Lynard Skynard (Tuesday's Gone), Jackson Brown, Bruce Hornsby, Boz Scaggs and more. Oh yes there were tears, especially with "Sweet Melissa" by the Allman Brothers ... many speical memories with that one. Being a long distance Grandma sucks (for lack of a better term) yet at the same time the world we have to offer our grandkids is a good one. My Mom or Honey as my children affectionately called her was a role model to me on grandparenting from afar.
Today I've learned a few things ... and this I know for sure:
Our children do grow up and become parents
We will continue to always look at our grandkids photos (and them) and be in awe that the child we gave birth to did the same thing ... and presented us with this angel of a grandchild
Life continues regardless of pit stops, holes or 'stuff' we step in and forks in the road
This I know for sure ............ it is all good.
